Conor McGregor has often been considered the best boxer in the UFC. After all, he was the one that represented MMA in a major boxing fight against Floyd Mayweather a few years ago. While Conor lost that bout, his performance was quite admirable. In the years since that, many other strikers have come into their own and have claimed the best boxer title.

Dustin Poirier seems to be the incumbent holder after his masterful TKO of Conor McGregor. He also beat Max Holloway in 2019, a man that set almost every UFC single-fight strike record in his domination of Calvin Kattar. He had done that once before against Brian Ortega as well.

From what we saw during the first week of 2021 UFC, Max is definitely ahead of Conor. What Holloway did to Kattar was beautiful in terms of how surreal it was. He was fighting a top Featherweight contender and punching him while talking to the commentary booth.

While Conor fought well, especially in the first round against Dustin, his rustiness was evident throughout the fight. Poirier may have made the right choice.
