Dana White and the UFC have established themselves as the leading MMA promotion in the world. While there are other promotions that are significantly big, none match the size and the popularity of the UFC. White along with the Fertitta brothers were one of if not the first people to get into the business of MMA promotion.

One thing that keeps the UFC ahead of its competition is the fact that they recruit well. The UFC has a host of matchmakers and scouts that are scouring the world for talent and which is why names such as Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and most recently someone like Khamzat Chimaev have been signed by the company.

In a recent interview with TSN, Bronsteter asked Dana White if he was worried that if any of the 60 athletes he was going to release this year would join rival promotions. White replied, “When was I worried about other people ever?…. It’s not about one or two promotions. Really, if you look at Bellator, there is not much to be interested in. There’s much better promotions all around the world that are actually dealing in up-and-coming talent. There are lots of great shows to watch all over the world. All you guys talk about are two……”

Dana continued, “If you look at the business I’m in, it’s like everybody keeps asking me about these fights that are going on whether it’s these YouTube kids or these other kids and all this other stuff. There is a market for that. People wanna see that, people are going to make money there is a market for that’s the same with Bellator….. That’s not what I do, I’m looking for the up-and-coming best fighters in the world. And I’m looking for people that I believe could possibly someday be champions. Those are the people I’m looking for.”

The UFC recently announced that they would let go of around 60 fighters. The UFC has let go of Yoel Romero and Rachael Ostovich, among others so far. Most of these fighters end up in rival promotions. However, on the plus side, this makes room for the UFC to add new talent that they have scouted from various organizations.
