Diego Sanchez is one of the few active legends that the UFC had. While he was far past his prime, Sanchez was still a draw for many old fans of the sport. But he has looked less than impressive in his last few UFC fights and that has led to the promotion releasing him. While it was a sudden announcement, many had seen it coming.
Dana White has personally addressed the release of one of the UFC’s longest-serving fighters. He chose to seemingly attack Sanchez’s coach Joshua Fabia. White very evidently has feelings of animosity towards the controversial coach. He implied that Fabia has ‘leeched’ on to Sanchez and has never done any good for him.

“I have an incredible, amazing relationship with Diego and I like him very much and I hope he is OK. One of the sad things that happens, not just in fighting but in sports, and I want you to quote me on this, are these creepy weirdos who come from God knows where and leech onto fighters or athletes. They never do any good for them.”
Diego Sanchez: Who is Joshua Fabia?
Much has been made about the release of Sanchez and a lot of the blame has already fallen on Joshua Fabia. But how is this one coach so important for Sanchez and his career? Fabia runs the School of Self Awareness in Albuquerque, New Mexico. That is where Sanchez used to train with the reputed Jackson-Wink academy who train fighters like Holly Holm and Jon Jones.

Fabia and Sanchez started working together in 2019. The coach would soon become the only man that would be in Sanchez’s corner during his fight. This is a very odd decision at this level of fighting. Joe Rogan has gotten a chance to listen to Fabia be in Sanchez’s corner up close and was not a fan of what Fabia was telling Sanchez.

Evidently, Fabia won’t be seen on UFC anymore as Sanchez is the only UFC fighter he manages and coaches. Whether the UFC wanted to be out of the Diego Sanchez business or the Joshua Fabia business is something everyone will talk about after White’s statement.
