The title picture at bantamweight is heating up. The main event at UFC Vegas 27 between Cody Garbrandt and Rob Font will surely play a big role in who gets the title shot next at 135-pounds. Font is on an impressive win streak; ‘No Love’ put in an impressive performance in his last fight. However, the likes of Cory Sandhagen and TJ Dillashaw are also in strong contention for a title shot in 2022.
After an unfortunate end to their title fight earlier this year, Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling will most likely have a rematch towards the end of 2021 or early next year. Hence, the contenders will look to use the time to string together a series of wins, thereby cementing their spot as the top challenger for the belt.

Cody Garbrandt believes that a title shot is next after a win over Rob Font
In an interview, Helen Yee asked ‘No Love’ if he believes a win over Rob Font is enough to secure a title shot over the winner of Cory Sandhagen vs TJ Dillashaw.
He said, “You know when I do beat Rob Font tomorrow, yes it puts me right into title contention. I have a lot of options, you know. First and foremost TJ has to go out there and you know, prove to the MMA world and everybody that he can come in there and fight clean.”‘No Love’ continued, “And still be active and win against the top fighters. Without having you know, needles shoved up his a**. So that is a huge thing on his fight. Not taking anything from Cory Sandhagen at all but definitely, I mean this fight is a title eliminator.”

Given that there is a lot of time before the rematch between Sterling and Yan takes place, the UFC might want to set up a title eliminator in the meantime. A fight between the winner of Sandhagen vs Dillashaw and Font vs Garbrandt would be an epic bout to make for a title eliminator.
