Kamaru Usman stamped his authority on the welterweight division this weekend at UFC 258. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ overcame adversity in the first round. He bounced back well in the second round and inflicted some damage, which he later capitalized on in the third round when the referee stopped the fight.
Given how well rounded he is, Gilbert Burns was touted to be the toughest test to Usman’s title reign. Another reason for this was that fans knew he had a lot of experience training with Kamaru and was aware of what the champion would bring to the cage. However, he joined the lengthy list of people who fell short in solving the puzzle that is ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’.

Is Colby Covington the man to solve the puzzle that is Kamaru Usman?
Former American Top Team member, ‘Chaos’ Covington took to Instagram and posted a video promoting an energy drink as he rolled around on the floor practicing his submissions. In the clip, fans can see Covington transitioning from one submission to another as he prepares for a fight.
‘Chaos’ was ousted from American Top Team as he violated team rules. The rules at American Top Team state that teammates may talk trash about each other and take personal shots only if they have a bout agreement signed. Covington did not have this in place when he spoke ill about the likes of Dustin Poirier, Jorge Masvidal, among others.
Therefore Covington now trains under the watchful eyes of Caesar Carneiro and Daniel Valverde. The two men are responsible for UFC stars like Ricardo Lamas and Miguel Baeza among others.

Many believe that ‘Chaos’ is the person in the welterweight division who has the best chance of dethroning the champion. After all, he did push the champion to the very end of their five-round fight back at UFC 245.
Dana White recently stated that the UFC is working on a fight between Covington and Leon Edwards for March 13th. If the fight gets finalized and Colby is able to get past ‘Rocky’ the rematch with Usman will surely be his next fight.
