Israel Adesanya is easily the biggest MMA fighter in the world right now. While there are some grander names, nobody else is as relevant as him. Adesanya is a media ringmaster and genuinely looks like he is unbeatable. All the shine that he lost with the dull Yoel Romero fight came back in heaps after his win over Paulo Costa at UFC 253.

As Adesanya continues to clear out the Middleweight Division, everyone is hotly anticipating his next move. While Izzy has expressed interest in facing Jared Cannonier (if he gets past Robert Whittaker), there is always some bigger fish to fry.

The possibility of Jon Jones vs Adesanya is low, but not impossible. Many will continue to fantasy book this fight. Many, including a former Jones opponent and title contender.

Chael Sonnen picked Izzy to win against Jones in dominant fashion in a five-round fight. While this is an odd prediction, there may be reasons as to why Chael said this. Jones is obviously the bigger fighter and is arguably one of the most skilled ever. Obviously, Israel Adesanya wouldn’t just whoop him for five rounds. But Sonnen has had past differences with Jones, which could be clouding his prediction.

Israel Adesanya a lock to win over Jon Jones?

While the odds of never seeing this fight are high, it doesn’t keep fans from wondering. Could Adesanya be dominant against Jon Jones? Sonnen might soon break his entire argument down for a YouTube video. However, from where we stand right now, Izzy dominating Jones is unlikely.

Adesanya definitely has the skill-set to beat Jones, but there would genuinely be a massive size and power gulf, especially now, since Jones is putting on weight for his move to Heavyweight. Adesanya has a large figure, but he isn’t imposing by any means. Jones is taller than most heavyweights and is one of the most effective range fighters in MMA history. To discount him against Izzy is asinine.

However, Adesanya has proved the doubters wrong multiple times. This is the perfect place for him to do it again. After all, he retweeted Chael’s tweet. This means he believes in himself, as he should.
