UFC women’s strawweight elite Mackenzie Dern returns to face Marina Rodriguez in the main event of UFC Fight Night on October 9. The clash will surely act as a title eliminator. The venue and location are yet to be finalized by the UFC.
The event had already a matchup added to it before the main event. Felipe Colares vs. Chris Gutierrez is also scheduled for the event on October 9.

Rodriguez, who is one of the front runners for the title challenge, will enter the bout on the back of splendid victory over Michelle Waterson at UFC on ESPN 24. The match was intense, but ultimately Rodriguez overpowered Waterson with her striking prowess.

Meanwhile, Dern is on a four-fight winning streak. She recently submitted Nina Nunes by armbar earlier this April. Apart from her only loss against Amanda Ribas, she has been dominant throughout her MMA career.

As mentioned, Dern is riding a 4 fight win streak. If we take an explicit look at her career, she has been an excellent grappler. She has picked up all her wins either by submission or decision.
Dern was scheduled to face Hannah Cifers on April 25, 2020, but that this event was postponed. The pair eventually met on May 30, 2020, at UFC on ESPN: Woodley vs. Burns. She won the fight via the first-round kneebar and thus became the first woman to finish a fight by any form of leg lock in UFC history.
She then fought Randa Markos on September 19, 2020, at UFC Fight Night 178 and won the fight via submission in the first round.
Dern faced Virna Jandiroba on December 12, 2020, at UFC 256. She won the fight by unanimous decision. As mentioned above, her last fight ended in a win against Nina Nunes.
Rodriguez meanwhile, is on a 2 fight win streak. She last defeated Michelle Waterson on UFC on ESPN 24 via unanimous decision earlier this May. Prior to that, she picked up an impressive TKO win over Amanda Ribas at UFC 257: Poirier vs McGregor 2.
