The ‘GOAT’ conversation is something that has been around for as long as the UFC has existed. Over the course of its existence as a company, the UFC has had multiple supremely talented fighters. Jon Jones, Georges St. Pierre, Demetrious Johnson, Daniel Cormier and many others have graced the octagon.
Each of the aforementioned fighters has accomplished unfathomable things in the sport. They all make a strong case for being considered the ‘GOAT’.
However, the debate is something that will never be settled. Fans and fighters are always keen to put up their point of view as to who they think is the greatest. Daniel Cormier is no different.

Jon Jones can not be the ‘GOAT’; Daniel Cormier explains why
In a recent interview, a reporter asked Daniel Cormier who he thinks is the ‘GOAT’ and why Jon Jones does not make the cut for ‘GOAT’ status.
He replied, “One of the most talented guys you’ll ever meet but again for me bad [drug] tests eliminate you from the conversation. I just cannot understand how that is so hard to comprehend in a sport where we’re fighting each other.
“In baseball, bad tests eliminate you from being considered and being in the Hall of Fame. And you’re hitting a ball. You’re hitting an object that has no feeling. In fighting, you’re punching people, human beings, and you have bad tests that eliminates you. It’s just too dangerous.”
‘DC’ continued, “So I think when you start to think about the greatest of all time for all the things and all the great victories, you can’t look at those. Me personally, being a guy that those fights did really long-term damage to my career, it’s hard for me to say [Jon Jones] is the greatest of all time when every time we fought, there was some sort of issue. That for me, it just kind of changes the conversation.”

Jon Jones has beaten multiple former champions and future hall of famers. However, it is his transgressions outside the octagon that cast a dark cloud over his achievements inside the ring. He has not been an ideal role model for the sport and is something that most fans argue eliminates him from ‘GOAT’ conversation.
