UFC lightweight elite and one of the diminutive strikers in UFC, Justin Gaethje, has laid out a plan for the title glory. The maestro, who is gearing up for a match against Michael Chandler, replied to a tweet of a fan who wanted either of him or Dustin Poirier to win the title this year.

‘The Highlight’ wrote, @DustinPoirier will KO @CharlesDoBronxs in December. After I break @MikeChandlerMMA on Nov 6th at any venue on the planet, I will get my rematch and you will see a replay of the best fight that happened on earth in 2018. That’s a year to look forward to.”

Gaethje will look to make a return to the octagon after suffering a submission loss last year against Khabib. The latter defended his undisputed gold and retired from the game. Poirier, meanwhile, is looking towards a lightweight title fight against Charles Oliveira later this year. The southpaw got the better of Conor McGregor in consecutive matches.

The fight with Poirier, as mentioned by Gaethje (22-3), was indeed one of the best. Both super strikers collided in an all-time classic where the southpaw got the better of Gaethje in a TKO win. Leg kicks, punches, and a lot of talk in the middle were the highlights of the match.

Justin Gaethje predicts Poirier vs Oliveira

If there is anyone who knows Poirier’s style, it’s got to be Gaethje. After their insane matchup in 2018, Gaethje knows the former’s weaknesses and strengths. During the weigh-in show prior to UFC 265, the American discussed how Poirier is better compared to Oliveira.

“I think Dustin Poirier’s better. I think Charles Oliveira still has some quite deep down in him—not even deep. It’s pretty shallow. Michael Chandler showed it.”

“But yeah, Dustin Poirier will make him quit, probably from being more hungry, more pressure… I mean, I want Charles Oliveira to show me that he’s not a quitter because nothing has showed me that,” he said.
