Former Bellator welterweight champion and MMA veteran Ben Askren is taking on YouTuber Jake Paul in a highly anticipated boxing clash. Both fighters have been training vigorously for their fight, and have left no opportunity go for some social media banter as well. Askren especially has taken his social media prowess to a new level, targeting Paul whenever he sees an opportunity.
Recently, Paul gathered headlines over his revelation that he has early signs of CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), although he has been cleared now to fight against Askren.

But he has now retracted his comment as he believes it’s his personal medical history and a serious condition that he shouldn’t have spoken of. Askren pulls his leg in a retweet and asks, “So did you just totally fabricate it, or did you misunderstand what the doctor said?”

Earlier Askren made a hilarious retweet when Paul had tweeted ’11 days’ to mark the number of days left for their fight. Askren said, “I’d prefer a video of your cheer squad performing this.”
Paul will continue his implausible journey as a boxer with his third professional fight. Although this time, his opponent is actually a proven fighter and not a YouTuber or an NBA player. It will be an 8-round affair that will headline Triller’s Fight Club at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Ben Askren vs Jake Paul-build up to the fight
Askren brings experience to the fight. He was a legend and welterweight champion in Bellator MMA and ONE Championship. Before he made his debut for UFC, he was undefeated for nearly a decade with 19 straight victories.
He tasted his first defeat at the hands of Jorge Masvidal, who finished him inside 5 seconds with a devastating knee. It’s the fastest knockout in the promotion’s history. He then got defeated by Demian Maia.
YouTuber Paul is new to combat sports. He has picked up two consecutive victories over fighters who can’t be called legitimate prizefighter.

Askren, though, isn’t a boxer and will incline towards his wrestling prowess. Though it may not help him that much, surely his experience will hold him up for good in his battle.
It’s one of the most anticipated battles of the year, as an old veteran will face a young rising star. Who do you think will be having the last laugh?
