“Everybody here is like ‘oh, you’re going against Adiwang?’ like he’s a boogeyman or something like that. But I’m excited to fight him, and I’m excited to show everybody that I can beat the king of the division,” the American fighter expressed.
“Yeah, he’s in the top five. And he seems like a gatekeeper in the division right now. I think that beating him would definitely put me in the top five.”
Brooks has been waiting for his shot at “Thunder Kid” for quite a while, and now that both fighters are healthy, he is ready to show why he should be the next big thing in the strawweight division.

Jarred Brooks claims he is the best in the division
The American’s statements on Adiwang and other strawweight contenders over the past few months might have come off a little bit cocky to a small portion of martial arts fans. But his performance in his past outings – 16 wins thus far in his career – has backed up his talk, so there’s no reason to think that it won’t this time too.
“People can watch me all they want and have their say on how they think I fight. But at the end of the day, they have to feel me. They have to literally feel me and see how strong I am. And they must know that my fight IQ is very, very high,” the 28-year-old said.
“I’ve studied the game since I was pretty much born. I think I’m the best in the division, and the reason why is because of those two. Anytime I feel like a situation is coming up that could put me in a bad situation, I’m not about that. I’m not going to get into any bad situations that fighters try to plant me with. At the end of the day, I’m going to fight with IQ and strength.”
Brooks is not worried about Lito Adiwang fight
“The Monkey God” will need to bring everything he has to the Circle on Friday, to match the speed, striking arsenal, and versatility of Adiwang. “Thunder Kid” has used these to absolute perfection, winning nine of his last 10 bouts.
Brooks, however, is not worried. He is confident that he can steal Adiwang’s thunder and continue collecting wins until he gets his shot at Joshua “The Passion” Pacio’s ONE Strawweight World Title.

“Lito is probably going to come in, and he’s going to try his regular striking style, just crazy. He’s just going to do that swinging stuff and the uppercuts. He’s going to wait for me to shoot. He’s going to try flying knee. If I do get into a shot, he’s going to try to elbow me, stuff like that.”
