Phogat vs. Stamp will take place at ONE: Winter Warriors in the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday, December 03, 2021. The winner of this intriguing bout will face Angela Lee, the current ONE women’s atomweight champion, for the title.

The possibility of a title challenger arising between these two of the division’s most dominant fighters only adds to the intrigue of this fight. As a result, top MMA fighters like Aung La N Sang are looking forward to seeing this thrilling match. Furthermore, the Burmese fighter recently shared his pick.

In an exclusive interview with ONE Championship, Sang said – “Well, I want to lean towards Ritu. For some reason, I want to lean towards Ritu. But you can’t count Stamp out, you know, you can’t count Stamp out. But I just think that Stamp kind of waits a little bit too much and Ritu is more head on, as far as the wrestling goes. She’s going to be able to take Stamp down.”

“And so I’m going to lean towards Ritu, but, but Stamp has as a great chance against Ritu, because of her caliber of striking. I believe she has like 100 fights, you know, since she was a kid. Very experienced. And one punch or one kick can finish the fight, or one elbow or one knee could finish the fight.” – the former ONE Championship two-division champion continued.

“It’s a very interesting matchup, and I look forward to it.” – the Burmese fighter concluded.

Ritu Phogat and Stamp Fairtex were not the first picks of Aung La N Sang for the Grand Prix final

Sang’s first choice for the ONE women’s Atomweight Grand Prix final was neither Phogat nor Stamp. At first, he favored more experienced fighters like Meng Bo to accomplish the task.

However, as the Grand Prix progressed to its final stages, Sang’s perspective evolved after seeing these two young and talented fighters.

In the same interview, the Burmese fighter said – “Yeah, well, to be honest, I didn’t expect Ritu or Stamp to make it that far, into the finals. I thought, you know, the more experienced fighters, like Meng Bo would be in the final.”

“But stylistically, they’re young, hungry. Stylistically, one’s a wrestler and one’s a striker. But both of them are mixed martial artists.”

Phogat and Stamp are both different types of fighters. While the Indian superstar is a world-class wrestler, Thailand’s warrior is a master striker. It will all come down to who can best execute their strategy. Regardless, it will for sure be one of the most exciting bouts in ONE women’s atomweight history.
