There are a handful of fighters in mixed martial arts history worthy of the GOAT discussion (Greatest of All Time). It’s a highly debated topic among hardcore MMA fans and analysts alike.

You have names in the conversation such as Georges St. Pierre, Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, and most recently, former lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov. But for longtime UFC commentator, Joe Rogan, there has always been one man who stood a cut above the rest, and that’s multiple-time former flyweight world champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson.

Rogan has long believed Johnson to be the best fighter the sport of MMA has ever seen. Speaking on his Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Rogan expressed his admiration for the flyweight legend.

“When he took Ray Borg and suplexed him and caught him with an armbar on the way down… I was like, ‘What the f**k does this guy have to do to become a superstar?’ I mean, his skill level is off the chart,” Rogan said last year.

“He doesn’t get hit. He’s a dazzling fighter. He puts on shows. [Johnson is] the best ever. He’s the best, physically, ever.”

Just recently, however, Rogan again went on his podcast explaining why he thinks Johnson is simply a cut above the rest.

“Mighty Mouse’ just destroyed people and destroyed people in a way where they looked overwhelmed and confused. Like they couldn’t touch him. His movement and his ability to mix the wrestling and the striking and the submissions together – flawlessly and seamlessly – was incredible,” Rogan said.

Johnson currently competes as a flyweight for ONE Championship. He left the UFC for the Asian organization in 2019, and went on to win the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix. Most recently, Johnson suffered the first knockout loss of his career when he was stopped by reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano Moraes in the second round of their title bout this past April.

Johnson is a 12-time UFC flyweight world champion who owns a litany of achievements throughout his stellar professional career, which spans nearly two decades of excellence. “Mighty Mouse” holds the record for most finishes in UFC flyweight history with seven, and the record for most consecutive title defenses, defending the belt 11 times during a five year reign from 2013 to 2018.

“Mighty Mouse’ in his prime is the greatest I’ve ever seen,” Rogan said.
