Trevor Story declined a qualifying offer from the Colorado Rockies, the team he played for since 2016. This move made Story a free agent right after the MLB 2021 season. The Rockies ended the 2021 season 4th in the National League West Division, with 74 wins and 87 losses. With around 5-6 teams rounding up to strike a deal with him now, the question lies as to where will he go?

Heyman also mentions how the Yankees and the Astros have an upper hand on the Trevor Story deal when compared with the other teams. The primary reason is that Story will be playing as a shortstop at both these teams, as Carlos Correa has agreed to a three-year deal with the Minnesota Twins. This move makes Story the current best shortstop on the free agency list.

Minnesota Twins’ deal with Story

MLB insider Jon Heyman gave some information on March 19th, 2022, that the Minnesota Twins were in talks with Story as well. But as Story was already being consulted by five other teams, his price rose quickly.

Taking these circumstances into consideration, what will Trevor Story’s next move be? Which team would he choose? Insider Jon Heyman thinks, Story will be going to the Yankees. The Yankee fans would be delighted to hear this news as a young shortstop who joined the MLB just 6 years ago and still managed to score a total of 158 home runs, may join their team. But not to forget, the Houston Astros are a powerful side as well.
