Home/WWE

Sometimes it becomes easy to forget just how rich New York’s history is. While it is the home of the New York Yankees, the city is also the home of WWE. During the territory days, New York was the base of WWE, and ever since then, there’s been a special connection. So is it a surprise that the current World Heavyweight Champion, Damien Priest, decided to visit Yankee Stadium after his win at Wrestlemania XL

What makes this even more special for Priest is that he has a history with the Bronx Bombers. The star momentarily lived in the Bronx and has always been a huge Yankees fan. So it was a surreal moment for the Archer of Infamy. Unsurprisingly, the Yankees and Jose Trevino decided to make that moment even more special by gifting Priest a Yankees jersey and a customized belt.

Trevino’s fandom for pro wrestling isn’t hidden from anyone. The fact that Damien Priest and Trevino’s Latin American heritage connects them was just the cherry on top. The WWE superstar was visibly shaken after receiving such an honor from the Yankees. For a lifelong Bronx Bombers fan, this was nothing less than a dream come true.

However, Damien Priests’ Yankees tour was far from over. The WWE World Heavyweight Champion then went on to meet Juan Soto and the Yankees captain Aaron Judge. While his customized Yankees belt was a great gift, it was Priest’s World Heavyweight Championship title that seemed to be the main attraction.

All the Yankees stars were in awe of his belt. The best scene came when Nick Swisher was visibly awestruck when he got to hold Priest’s title belt. However, it was his meeting with Judge that won everyone’s hearts.

Priest was talking to others when Aaron Judge sneaked up on him. The captain tapped him on the shoulder, and the two hugged. Later, Judge gifted Damien Priest with a baseball bat. Interestingly, Priest’s fandom for Judge goes a long way back. In one of his interviews some time ago, Priest shared that Aaron Judge is the one sportsperson he thinks will fit right in WWE.

For him to now meet that star as a World Heavyweight Champion must be surreal. Still, it seems the Yankees and WWE are enjoying this relationship. After all, why wouldn’t they? Both of them are dynasties. Only this year has a certain Tribal Chief’s dynasty ended; perhaps the Yankees can do the reverse and create a new dynasty in baseball. That sure would be nice.
