Contrary to many beliefs, LA Angels star player Mike Trout has many things on his mind, aside from baseball. While the 10x All-Star continues to showcase his immense hitting talents on the plate, he is doing great off the field too. For the unversed, the 31-year-old recently joined Serena Williams and Michael Phelps in a notable cause, becoming the voice of the mental awareness program MLB Together. Now, the Angels slugger has become the face of yet another campaign following a huge loss five years ago.

While the tennis icon has spoken openly about how a healthy mind works toward an even healthy body for many years now, Phelps, on the other hand, has opened up about the mental health issues he dealt with firsthand since 2015. Doing so, he has also opened his Michael Phelps Foundation to help people have a good mental health. Back in 2018, Trout lost his brother-in-law, Aaron Cox, to suicide. Losing him was a big blow to Trout and his family. And ever since that moment, Trout has done everything in his capacity to create awareness and help as many people as possible. Yet again, Mike Trout takes charge and leads the campaign with great determination and influence.

When Mike and his wife Jessica welcomed their son in 2019, they named him after their brother-in-law. The Angel’s star has never let a moment go by without honoring his brother-in-law’s legacy in this world. Aaron meant a lot to him, and losing him made Mike realize the importance of the smallest things in life and also how important mental health is.

Mike and Jessica most recently organized a walk for suicide awareness in the memory of Aaron. Joining the two of them is the little man, Aaron Trout, who proudly wore a t-shirt that said, “I walk for my uncle Aaron.”

Taking to Instagram, Jessica posted the picture of their son with a smile on his face, a bottle in hand, and a white-colored hat on his head. While doing so, Jessica did not forget to tag her husband. Soon after, Mike reposted the story on his Instagram handle.

MLB is doing its part!

Rising to the Mental Health Awareness Month, Major League Baseball recently announced a program called MLB Together. As a part of the campaign, MLB partners with many non-profit organizations to help create awareness for mental health while helping people at the same time. And this year, Trout is paying his dues by becoming an ambassador of the program.

Up until now, the program has partnered with a number of organizations, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the Jackie Robinson Foundation, and Stand Up To Cancer. It is a commitment by MLB to make a positive impact on the communities with each passing day. The platform provides opportunities for fans, players, and employees to get involved and make a difference.
