It’s been a tough year in Boston. The Red Sox have struggled to come up from the bottom of the AL East. But one saving grace has been that they’ve been consistently one step ahead of their sworn rivals, the?New York Yankees. The BoSox made severe roster moves in the last offseason to improve their presence in the field. And one of their best investments was third baseman Justin Turner.
The right-handed hitter gave a massive scare to Boston when he?received a head injury?in spring training in 2023. But fortunately, things turned out okay, and Turner returned more vital than ever. Interestingly, another athlete has returned to the city after a long while, and Fenway Park strangely greeted him.

NHL veteran Milan Lucic is in what is likely to be his last year in hockey. After spending the first eight years of his career in Boston with the Bruins, he went around the country to different teams. Now back in Boston with a one-year, $1 million deal, Lucic is looking to go out with a bang. And whatever his actual sport, no return to Beantown is complete without a visit to Fenway Park.

Lucic threw the first pitch ahead of the Red Sox’s game against the Baltimore Orioles yesterday, which was caught by none other than Justin Turner. But taking inspiration from the viral Jose Ramirez vs. Tim Anderson fight a few weeks ago, Turner decided to throw a few punches to the NHL personality on the pitcher’s mound.
Keep in mind, no actual violence took place, but the two veteran athletes sure got into a boxing position with their hands up in front of them and shoulders hunched. It was fun to watch as Lucic received a unique welcome back to his beloved city, even though he’s Canadian. Unfortunately, the hockey player was not quite able to serve as a lucky charm as the O’s beat the BoSox with a brutal 11-2 score.

The Orioles have been a surprising team this season, climbing up the ranks like underdogs. The Red Sox were just an unlucky opponent in their way, their loss giving Baltimore six straight wins. On the other hand, Boston has now lost eight of their last eleven games, with postseason hopes slipping further away.
Although the Yankees have been abysmal this season, with a new era of youngsters, they’re two games away from pulling ahead of Boston in the AL East. If it happens, the Red Sox will finish at the bottom for the third time in the last four years.
