The MLB 2023 postseason is heating up as the NLCS and ALCS games are progressing. Tables for the teams have been frequently turning upside down. Amidst these, the Philadelphia Phillies’ games are continuously attracting guests from different fields. After several NFL and NBA stars, now an Olympian is making it to the list. An MLB insider confirmed the news that Michael Phelps will be at the Game 5 of NLCS. However, his purpose for attending the game will be completely different, though.

Michael Phelps requires no introduction. Being one of the most celebrated Olympians of this era, sports enthusiasts are already familiar with his achievements. However, besides swimming, Phelps is a hardcore baseball fan, which is bringing him close to the NLCS Game 5. At least Bob Nightengale confirms that.

Heartbroken Michael Phelps’ Will Serve His Purpose in Game 5

Born and brought up in Baltimore, the world-famous swimmer is one of the biggest fans of the local baseball team– the Baltimore Orioles. Though the Orioles qualified for the playoffs, their journey has already ended. However, the Olympian, with his broken heart, is going to join one of the most thrilling games on Saturday night. Reportedly, he will be going to “throw out the ceremonial first pitch” at the Citizens Bank Park in Game 5.

The Phillies vs.?the Arizona Diamondbacks games are getting more and more crucial every day. While the Phillies started the series with a 2-0 lead, after 4 games, it has now become 2-2. Every upcoming game is now crucial, and each loss can cost them their World Series dream. Though Game 4 was super exciting, with both teams trying their best, Alek Thomas and Gabriel Moreno surpassed Kyle Schwarber’s homer, leading their team to a 6-5 victory.

Game 5 will be a crucial one for both teams, but fans are excited about Phelps’ presence. Incidentally, he’s been connected to the baseball world for a long time.

Michael Phelps Shares History with the Arizona Diamondbacks

Phelps has thrown ceremonial pitches before. Interestingly, it was even for the Arizona Diamondbacks. In 2018, the most decorated Olympian was spotted at Chase Field to throw the ceremonial pitch before the D-Backs vs. the Seattle Mariners game. Wearing a D-Backs jersey, he threw a successful first pitch. Interestingly, he even did his signature warm-up move before he threw the ball.
