New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge is a true sports lover. From attending basketball games to marathons, Judge is spending much of his offseason in sports arenas. He added another sport to his list when he went to Italy to watch a soccer game between ACF Fiorentina and Bologna FC. With the Chicago Cubs player Mike Tauchman accompanying him to the game, they got a special gift to remember this special trip.

While Aaron Judge’s love for sports is known to all, his visit to Fiorentina also has a connection to New York. The soccer club is strangely related to the Big Apple. To say that the Yankees captain is a lover of sports is an understatement. Judge used to play football, basketball, and baseball in his high school days. So it’s not surprising to spot him in different sporting arenas. This time the slugger was watching ACF Fiorentina beat Bologna FC 2-1 in a Serie A game in Italy. Accompanied by the former Yankee and now Cubs slugger Mike Tauchman, fans were quick to point out the custom jersey that both of them were gifted by the soccer club.

While Judge’s love for sports took him there, for Fiorentina it was their owner’s New York connection that made it special. Rocco Commisso owns Fiorentina and he moved to New York when he was 12. He also owns the New York Cosmos of the National Independent Soccer Association. With such deep connections to the Big Apple, it was obvious why this was a very special occasion for Commisso and why he took a  photo with Judge.

This is not the only time the New York Yankees have been connected to soccer. The team’s parent company famously partly owns the historical Italian soccer club AC Milan. Now with Judge going into the Fiorentina game, it seems that the Bronx Bombers are deeply into soccer. But the captain is still focused on his first love – baseball.
