Over the last few years, NFTs, or Non-Fungible Tokens have become a huge digital asset with a market worth billions. In 2021, NFL legend Tom Brady saw an opportunity to get into a growing market and founded Autograph. Brady and his co-founder Dillon Rosenblatt wanted to bring together top brands with legendary figures in sports and culture.

They saw it as a platform for digital collections but focused on the fan experience. Brady even brought on Derek Jeter as one of the athletes to collaborate with. He and the New York Yankees legend have developed a strong friendship over the years. But bringing in Jeter was a smart business decision, considering his status as a baseball icon.

Autograph launched in mid-2021, with Tom Brady founding the NFT and digital collection platform. In July 2021, PR Newswire announced that Autograph had signed several iconic athletes as a part of their talent pool, including Derek Jeter. He and the other athletes also joined the Board Of Advisors for Autograph. This was the move that declared Brady’s intent and direction.

According to PR Newswire, Autograph “revealed multi-year, exclusive NFT deals with an all-star roster of iconic athletes including Tiger Woods, Wayne Gretzky, Derek Jeter, Naomi Osaka and Tony Hawk”. Jeter, along with these iconic names joined the company’s Board of Advisors upon signing these deals.

Autograph released their first NFTs with Jeter in September 2021, shortly before the Yankee legends Hall Of Fame induction ceremony. With the initial drop, Jeter sold more than 10,000 digital collectibles to earn roughly $800,000. At the time, the iconic shortstop was happy with the way Autograph was focusing on the fan experience. Furthermore, Jeter is involved with the organization even today and still holds his position on the Board of Advisors.

Jeter started his own Digital Marketplace in 2022

Derek Jeter has become an entrepreneur and businessman since retiring from baseball. In 2022, he launched Arena Club, along with Brian Lee. Arena Club is a digital marketplace to buy, sell, and trade cards. Jeter founded it to bring a new experience for fans and followers. He put fan experience before anything else.
