It’s often expected in the realm of sports dynasties that the offspring will follow directly in their parent’s footsteps. Gage Goldberg, son of WWE legend Bill Goldberg, however, is charting a different course. He’s not stepping into the wrestling ring—not now, not anytime soon; instead, he’s embarked on a journey to make his mark on the gridiron and the diamond, playing both football and baseball for the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Gage’s path, intriguingly, is more aligned with that of his father’s close friend, Deion Sanders—a.k.a. “Prime Time,” a two-sport athlete who excelled in football and baseball. Just like his favorite Coach Prime, Gage is a multi-sport talent, dribbling with his skills as a linebacker in football and a catcher in baseball.
“I’m tired of being that one guy like, ‘Oh my God, his dad’s this guy, this famous guy, he’ll never live up to it,’” Gage Goldberg shared in a recent podcast interview with Colin Moore of Life and Football.

“I’m gonna prove him wrong, show him that I’m gonna be that guy, and I’m gonna try to strive to be better than him.” And this incessant hunger to forge his own identity is evident in Gage’s athletic achievements.
As a high school senior, the 18-year-old kid has already recorded an impressive 154 total tackles, eight hurries, four forced fumbles, and one sack. His commitment to the University of Colorado was further solidified after Coach Prime took over as their head coach.
“I can’t wait to meet all my teammates; they’re gonna be my family for the next four years, and I just can’t wait to make it happen,” Gage exclaimed, a grin hanging from his face—a crystal-clear echo of the enthusiasm and camaraderie often associated with Coach Prime’s teams—also of one that comes with the freedom of seeking your dreams beyond a legacy that has been etched before you, set in stone.
The next Prime Time? Gage Goldberg embraces Colorado spotlight
Gage’s decision to play both football and baseball is a testament to his versatility and athleticism, this hunger he has for doing and being more as an athlete, not just as Bill’s son. Will it be a challenging path? Yes.
Will balancing training for two demanding sports require his utmost dedication and discipline? Indeed.
But as evidenced by his impressive high school stats and his determination to excel at the collegiate level, Gage is no stranger to hard work—definitely not ones that will help him build his empire beyond the confines of inherited fame, and the expectations—or the disappointments, that comes with it.

Now, indulge me for a moment, here. A packed stadium, the roar of the crowd echoing through the crisp Colorado air. Gage Goldberg, donning the black and gold of the Colorado Buffaloes, bursts through the line of scrimmage, a human missile targeting the opposing quarterback. The very next day, he’s behind the Boulder plate, laser-focused on every pitch—his cannon of an arm ready to gun down any would-be base stealers.
As Gage’s dual-sport journey unfolds, that vision could very well play out in the coming years. The youngster’s passion and commitment to both football and baseball is not just a personal challenge; it’s an electrifying narrative that could captivate fans across the nation. For now, the stage is set for Gage Goldberg to become a household name, not as the son of a WWE icon, but as a multi-sport phenom in his own right.
