Boston Red Sox have had a rather disappointing off-season considering how their 2022 season went. The Red Sox finished the last season with 78 wins and at the bottom of the East. Many expected them to make big changes this off-season, but they lost key players instead. And to make the situation worse, franchise superstar Xander Bogaerts left in this free agency as did power hitter J. D. Martinez.

Furthermore, they have suffered a huge loss as Trevor Story underwent elbow surgery during the off-season. But most recently, they made a shocking move with Story to sign their newest player.

The Boston Red Sox have reportedly brought back infielder Yu Chang on a 1-year deal this off-season. Furthermore, they moved Trevor Story onto the 60-day injured list to make space for Chang on the roster. Trevor Story is recovering from elbow surgery and so it makes sense but Red Sox fans would have hoped for him to be ready for the first half of the season. The team announced the move via their official Twitter account.

In a Tweet, the Red Sox said, ?The #RedSox today signed INF Yu Chang to a one-year contract for the 2023 season. To make room for Chang on the 40-man roster, Boston placed INF Trevor Story on the 60-Day IL due to right elbow ulnar collateral ligament repair.? Chang played for 4 teams last year, one of which was the Red Sox. But his best form came with the Tampa Bay Rays, where he showed flashes of good hitting.?

The Red Sox will hope to get the best out of Chang this season. Seeing as how Story was placed on the injured list, it looks like he may be out for a while. This marks a rather unfortunate off-season for the team as they deal with big losses. They lost Xander Bogaerts in free agency, a star that they have not replaced yet. But getting back to Story, it looks like he may return for the second half of the season.

Trevor Story’s injury update

This off-season, Trevor Story underwent an internal bracing procedure on his right ulnar collateral ligament after experiencing elbow pain late last year. Many Boston Red Sox fans expected Story to miss the entire 2023 season recovering. But the latest updates are somewhat positive.
