If there is one manager to look up to always, it is Bruce Bochy. The Texas Rangers’ skipper retired in 2019 after winning 3 World Series titles, only to be invited again by the Texas Rangers. While Bochy loves to manage, he has also started living the peaceful life of retirement. When he revealed to his wife that he would be managing again, her response was not in favor.

It is no secret that the 68-year-old is still going strong. Bringing the Texas Rangers to the World Series platform for the first time was no joke. And he has been rightly commended for that as well. While he gives a shot to make history happen, he has let go of his retirement lifestyle.

In a recent tweet that MLB journalist, @BNightengale posted, the conversation between the Texas Rangers skipper and his wife was highlighted. As reported, when Bochy told his wife, Kim Seib, that he would love to manage again this season, she said, “what is it you don’t like about your life, you’re fishing, you’re golfing.’’ Clearly, the two are not on the same page about him managing again, but MLB would love to have him.

Kim’s concern, however, is not baseless. Not only is Bruce Bochy the second oldest managers, after Houston Astros’ Dusty Baker, he comes with certain ailments. Over the last decade, particularly, his health conditions have become more evident. With that, Bochy’s decision was bound to alarm any family member.

The former catcher had multiple heart procedures between 2015 and 2017, while he was still the San Francisco Giants manager. His wife was perturbed about this when he was determined to return. This led her to question the current life that Bochy was leading. However, given what a perfect amalgamation he is of modern and traditional idea, the MLB world couldn’t resist further.

Why Is Bruce Bochy Considered One Of The Best?

Bruce Bochy, one of the best managers in MLB history, is only four wins away from being inducted into the Hall of Fame. When he joined as the 29th manager in the history of the Texas Rangers, he re-entered with one aim in mind – lead the Texas Rangers to their first World Series victory. Having brought Bochy on board, Chris Young, who once played under Bochy during their time with the San Diego Padres, was confident he made the correct decision. How has this decision turned out, though?

In addition to helping the club return to the postseason, his presence has had a significant positive impact on performance. As of 2023, the Rangers wound up the regular season with 22 more victories than the before. The only thing the team did differently was onboard this French-American manager. Hence, one cannot help but attribute this turnaround to him.
