So it isn’t always sunny in Philadelphia. After the Philadelphia Phillies lost in the final game of the NLCS, the atmosphere is dark. As it stands, the Phillies are becoming a team of “almost”. Last season they almost won the World Series, this time they almost won the NLCS. Yet they cannot claim that they were the better team. Arizona Diamondbacks had come to win and win they did.

So now the World Series is final. Arizona Diamondbacks will face Texas Rangers for the ultimate title. But before that it’s time to hear what Rob Thomson had to say about losing the NLCS.

Philadelphia Phillies’ skipper praises Arizona Diamondbacks

The Phillies started as favorites in NLCS. Their quality of players, coupled with a run of impressive form, made it easy to predict that they will dominate the series. They began with two wins, but then something clicked for the D-Backs. In the next 5 matches, the Phillies were no match for them. The Phillies did manage to win one match to take it to the final game but people were beginning to see that the D-Backs were not going down without a fight. So when Game 7 came, everyone held on to their breaths. The result? 4-2 to Diamondbacks.

So now that the Phillies have to wait one more year to fill their 15-year hunger for the World Series, their manager Rob Thomson was all praises for the Diamondbacks. He said – ” congratulations to Tori and his staff in the Diamondbacks that’s a good club and they really played well, and you come in this building and beat us twice. And in this type of atmosphere, you, you’re doing some things right “

Once a Yankees coach, Thomson has been questioned about his team selection. So he was asked about the Phillies as well, and he said how proud he was of his players. “I’m proud of our guys, they, they, they never gave up. They fought like hell right till the end and I’m proud of ’em. We’re all disappointed, but you know, they played hard and that’s all you can ask, really. ” Well! disappointment is natural with how close the series was.

Diamondbacks – an underdog story

The D-Backs have been classic underdogs. The last, and before this, the only time they won the NLCS was in 2001, the year they won the World Series. Since then they’ve struggled but have never really got close to the World Series again. This year too, both the Diamondbacks and Phillies were wild cards. Outlasting the opposition when they collided in the NLCS, nobody expected the D-backs to clinch the title. Yet they did.
