Sports analyst Stephen A. Smith was seemingly very angry with the New York Mets’ decision to rest famous pitcher Jacob deGrom. Returning from injury, deGrom was supposed to start in the next game of the Subway Series. But the Mets management staff decided to play safe and excluded deGrom in a surprise move.?

Jacob deGrom is a starting pitcher for the New York Mets. Making his MLB debut in 2014, deGrom is a four-time All-Star player. He is also a two-time National League strikeout leader.?

deGrom has played four games since his comeback from a shoulder injury. The Mets have won two and lost two of those games. But most importantly, he was supposed to start pitching in the next game of the Subway Series. But he got replaced and scheduled to start against the Colorado Rockies.?

Popular American sports analyst?Stephen A. Smith?lashed out at the substitution of?Jacob deGrom. Playing in the Subway Series against city rivals New York Yankees, the Mets chose?Taijuan Walker?instead to start the next game. The legendary pitcher?Max Scherzer?started in the first game.?

The Yankees have cleaned up the Subway Series games. Going through a poor phase recently, very few people expected the Yankees to win. With fierce pitchers like Scherzer and deGrom slated to open, the reigning Mets were clear favorites. But while the Yankees properly negotiated Scherzer’s threat, deGrom was nowhere to be seen.?

Speaking at the expert panel on ESPN network, a furious Smith said, “I’m talking to the players, you’re cheating the public. I’m talking to the managers, you’re cheating the public. Who did not want to see Jacob deGrom go up against the New York Yankees? You had Scherzer the first night. It was supposed to be deGrom last night.”?

Smith added,?“You got Jacob deGrom just sitting there? But he gonna play against the Rockies. That’s the problem with baseball. What you want to do is what you want to do. You don’t give a damn about the public, the audience.”?
