Being a baseball player is not easy. It requires hard work, determination, and sacrifice. Alex Rodriguez did all those things and more en route to a legendary MLB career. He achieved enormous success but also gave up time with family, friends, and other things he wanted to do. Most recently, he revealed a big void that he was only able to fill after retiring from MLB.

Rodriguez has transitioned from baseball to business and has had more freedom over his time. This allows him to take time off when he wants to, with no MLB season to worry about.

Like many other baseball stars, Alex Rodriguez faced a grueling baseball schedule during his career. This prevented him from doing a lot of the things he wanted to do, including traveling overseas. Most recently, he appeared on the Club30 podcast and talked about his career, among other things. During the podcast, he said that he was a slave to his career and was unable to travel overseas, among other things. Furthermore, he said that he now takes 3 weeks to a month off every year and travels to Europe. 

During the podcast, A-Rod said, “Over the last 3 years, I have taken about 3 weeks to a month completely off. And because of our sports, I didn’t get a chance to travel internationally. I mean, you’re basically a slave to your career for 25 years. So now every summer I take a month and I travel to Europe, I didn’t get to do that for 25 years.”

This was an honest look into his career and the restrictions that it placed on him. His current situation allows him more freedom as compared to his baseball career. Furthermore, he has said that he probably would not do his MLB career again if went back in time. Rodriguez also revealed details about how he slows down during this holiday.

During his time off, A-Rod focuses on two projects

When slowing down or taking time off, most people stop working completely. But for Alex Rodriguez, it is a little different. During his 3-weeks to a month off, A-Rod slows down and narrows his focus to only two projects. Those are his real estate and the Minnesota Timberwolves. So although he is unable to stop working, he takes a break from a majority of his projects.
