Earlier this year, top sports commentator Chris ?Mad Dog? Russo made light of Joey Votto?s MLB career. He said that when the Reds legend retires, he will only make it to the ?Hall of Very Good?.

This was a mockful comment slighting Votto’s achievements while questioning his chances of making Cooperstown. But in an epic recent monologue on MLB Network?s ?High Heat?, he hit back at Russo while also insulting New York. MLB Network shared a video of the statement on Twitter.?

In the video, Votto said, ?A couple of months ago, you said that Zack Greinke and I are ‘Hall of Very Good’ ballplayers. I think Zack and I would agree. “And your hair. Your perfectly coiffed, Broadway hair. Must be nice to sit atop that Madison Avenue ivory tower, looking down on us with those luscious locks. Not everyone can be the next Roger Peckinpaugh, Mad Dog! You should be ashamed of yourself! You’re a disgrace!??

Joey Votto?s future is in the air

At 39 years old, Joey Votto made a comeback this year after suffering a season-ending injury in 2022. Many expected him to retire, but he made a strong return. Following this season, his future is in the air. The Reds hold a team option for 2024 that they may not pick up. It will be interesting to see if he comes back for another year.
