Jerry Seinfeld made a surprise appearance on WFAN this week. He got into some playful back-and-forth banter with the host, Chris McMonigle, and producer Paul Rosenberg. The conversation started, and Rosenberg took a dig at Seinfeld’s iconic show—Seinfeld. This was after McMonigle talked about the classic “chicken roaster” episode while talking about the NBA courts. Rosenberg said, “One of the few good Seinfeld episodes,” and this, of course, caught Seinfeld’s attention.
Seinfeld didn’t seem to falter with the pun; instead, he said, “It doesn’t bother me; I’m OK with it. One out of two is fine.” Seinfeld soon shifted the topics to something he loves a lot – the Mets! It was all fun and games, but then Seinfeld decided to crack another punchline – this time, it was the Yankees on the cutting board! It started when McMonigle, who is a New York Yankee fan, started recalling the painful fifth inning of Game 5 against the Dodgers in the World Series. Seinfeld, a Mets fan, couldn’t help and tried to coax McMonigle more. “Tell me about the pain of the fifth inning. I wanna know, what did that feel like as a fan?”

McMonigle, who was still hurting from the loss, said, “Do I have to go over that with Jerry Seinfeld right now?” He also mentioned that he still thinks about the loss every day even if for a little. Seinfeld got that perfect moment he was waiting to give the epic punchline: “It makes me feel so good to hear that. Your pain is my pleasure.” Well, classic him! We are sure that the perfectly timed jab left McMonigle speechless, but everyone else sure would be in splits.

The New York Yankees are ready to make big changes
While the New York Yankees may be a pot of jokes, for their gameplay at the World Series, they sure aren’t planning on repeating their errors. Hence, they are planning to retain Soto no matter what. Infact, they are meeting up with Juan Soto and Scott Boras sooner than later. But there is another player who can be exceptional on the team, and that’s Alex Bregman. He has been a staple for the Houston Astros, and his big-stage energy makes him a perfect fit for New York. Bob Nightengale predicted that Bregman would land with the Yankees, saying, “What’s bigger than New York?.”

Jerry Seinfeld's Yankees jab—just good humor, or did he hit a nerve with fans?
Have an interesting take?
Alex Bregman is turning 31 in March, has a solid season under his belt, and he delivers at the clutch. And on the clutch, players are what the New York Yankees need. Plus Bregman is also willing to move to the second base depending on the team’s needs. So, with Gleyber Torres being a free agent, the Yankees can sign Bregman and keep him in third base. The Athletic has projected a $189 million seven-year deal for him. If Soto signs elsewhere, then the Yankees sure can sign.
