After a forgettable year in 2022, Fernando Tatis Jr. is on course to revive his career. The $340 million San Diego Padres star is having a great season after coming back from his PED suspension. Furthermore, he has shrugged off criticism from opposing fans while endearing himself to Padres’ supporters once again. Most recently, a few young baseball fans met the star outfielder in a surprising setting.
Coming into the 2023 season, there were many questions surrounding Tatis Jr. and his future in the MLB. But he was able to come in and get into form quickly, all while playing a new position. This recent incident shows that even younger fans look up to him regardless of what happened in 2022.

Meeting MLB players at games is commonplace, with many wanting to interact with their supporters. But most recently, two young fans were able to meet Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. at Dick’s Sporting Goods store. B/R Walk-Off shared a video of the moment on Instagram. The star outfielder said hi to the young fans from afar, leaving them dumbfounded and in disbelief. But then Tatis Jr. interacted and even shook hands with them. Both of them were in disbelief throughout the moment, and one of them even said that it was crazy.

In the caption, B/R Walk-Off said, “Imagine running into Tatis when you’re shopping for his bat”. Furthermore, the kids were reportedly looking to buy his bat, the TATIS23. This was an incredible incident, as several coincidences fell into place to create the moment.

Tatis Jr. has a great relationship with Padres fans, as they welcomed him back with open arms this year. This has helped him get back into a rhythm and play to his full capabilities. But despite his amazing play, he was recently snubbed for a top mid-season honor.
Tatis Jr. is snubbed from the All-Star starting spot
As the season’s halfway mark nears, All-Star voting has been taking place. In the latest update, Fernando Tatis Jr. did not advance to the second phase of voting for the All-Star starters. This is a massive snub given his elite play thus far, both as a hitter and in the outfield. Furthermore, he has been a bright spot for the San Diego-based team as they struggle to win games. There is still a chance that he makes it as an All-Star reserve, but that is uncertain at this point. Only time will tell if the Padres’ outfielder is recognized for his great play this year.
