Well, looking at what went wrong, it is evident that the Yankees? offense majorly weighed them down. While the ambitious restructuring in the Bronx goes on, the Yankees don?t want to spend much on improving their offense. Rather, they are planning to go all out on the Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. While Yamamoto is a great catch, how will the team be able to invest in offensive players? Well, MLB insider Joel Sherman told the New York Post, ?If they spend any big money this offseason, it will be to try and land (the) Japanese ace.?

Yoshinobu Yamamoto caught Yankees GM Brian Cashman?s eye earlier this year. He had tossed a no-hitter when Cashman was in attendance one day this season. With that, it was an instant click. Yoshinobu is a player with the Orix Buffaloes of the Nippon Professional Baseball League. He was amazing this season. He has a 16-6 record with a 1.21 ERA in 23 games that he started.

With that, it is important to note that there are many other teams eyeing this mega pitcher. The Boston Red Sox, the Yankees? arch nemesis, is also one among them. Recently, there were drastic steps that the Red Sox took that aligned with the intention of setting the stage for Yamamoto. The heights to which the Sox-Yankees rivalry can go is immeasurable.?
