During the spring of MLB’s 2022 season, like many other teams, the New York Yankees also acquired and traded quite a few players. However, not every trade that the Yanks made went in their favor. One of the players that the front office acquired just before the trade deadline has become a nightmare for the team’s future.

Bronx Bombers’ General Manager, Brian Cashman, posed the former Athletics’ ace, Frankie Montas, as the pitching upgrade the team had required. Therefore, he traded for him on last year’s trade deadline. Cashman did so, despite Montas being on the injury list because of his shoulder. His injury did not let him play to the best of his potential, and thus, he struggled mightily. And now, a recent update about Montas’ trade to the Yankees organization has made the fans turn on Cashman for the team’s subpar play.

According to recent developments, Yankees pitcher Frankie Montas is set to undergo a shoulder surgery, possibly making him miss out entirely on the upcoming regular season. After Montas’ subpar play in the 2022 season, fans were expecting him to live up to others’ expectations of him. However, after Boone announced that the ace probably wouldn’t play in the upcoming season, fans were already furious.

Then a piece of news got revealed about Montas’ trade last season. According to the esteemed journalist Bryan Hoch, Montas was “not sure” about his trade to the Bronx. Learning this fact made the fanbase even angry, making them turn on Cashman for acquiring Montas despite his injury. It is not sure who will take Montas’ place in the rotation, but in the meantime, the Yankees fanbase has much to say.

The fans are beyond angry at Cashman for trading Montas despite him not being 100% healthy. Fans are calling it a mistake that he definitely shouldn’t have made and are also shocked at how Montas passed the physical if he was already injured. Montas not being able to play at all, even for a while, has indeed put the Yanks in a tough position. It’s been over a decade since they won a world series, and even in the last season, they missed out because of their subpar play.
