Yankees manager Aaron Boone and his list of ejections in the 2024 season have gone hand-in-hand. His last ejection was just a few months ago when he left the field against the Miami Marlins. This time, the same storyline continued against the Braves. Saturday’s game against the Braves was nothing short of dramatic. The crowd chanted players’ names, the Yankees were flying high, and with Aaron Boone’s ejection, it was mostly expected by the fans.

The morale-down Yankees entered the game trailing 8-1 against the Atlanta Braves. Making a promising start, they hit two home runs, all thanks to Aaron Judge in the first innings. Building a strong lead, they went 7-1, where all the fuss happened. Out of nowhere, the umpires made questionable strike zone calls that disrupted the entire momentum.

The right-hander pitcher Marcus Stroman, who made his 16th appearance of the season, expressed his frustration when Marcell Ozuna came out in the seventh innings due to disrupted calls. As the umpires were into an argument fever, the entry of Aaron Boone to defend his player for inevitable. He has done it in the past, and this time, during a heated argument, Derek Thomas, the Home Plate umpire, ejected him immediately.

However, if you think it was all a loss for the Yankees, there were roars of happiness inside the Yankees stadium. Despite all the drama, the Yankees clinched the most awaited victory by 8-3. Overall, the contribution of Aaron Judge’s home runs and RBIs from Gleybber Torres, along with Oswaldo Cabrera, sealed the deal for the home team.

Fans react to Aaron Boone’s ejection against the Braves

As much as Aaron Boone has been a character-inducing drama in most of the Yankees, matches, fans have been a step ahead of him. After the incident of his departure from the field, social media handles saw a wave of witty fan comments. During the game, Aaron Judge’s home run steered the Yankees ahead; yelling at Aaron Boone, a fan wrote,” Yanks were leading by a large amount. Why argue and get thrown out? Just why?” Clearly, with the Yankees leading 7-1, fans’ frustration over the Aaron Boone fight was clear. On the other hand, despite Aaron Boone being the Yankees manager for quite a long time, he has been trophyless. Writing on the same note, a fan replied.” Boone is an as*h*le, and the job of any leader is to look after the people he/she leads. It’s literally one of the most basic and core attributes you need to have. Stop giving him participation trophies.” On December 4, 2017, Aaron Boone became the Yankees manager, leaving aside Joe Girardi. Despite making his team win small events and players making records, his failure of not being able to win a  World Championship was the reason for fan’s anger.

Also, time after time, arguing with the umpires has backfired in sports like baseball. Another fan’s reaction went the same lane saying,” Arguing balls and strikes with the umpire is such a futile, ridiculous approach to this game.” As per the Baseball rules, the players or the managers cannot argue with the umpires based on strikes and calls. If they do, Umpires have all the right to eject them immediately out of the field.

A fan jokingly wrote,” I’m actually more surprised when Boone makes it through a game without getting ejected.” Unsurprisingly, if it’s ejection against the Marlins or Oakland Athletics 2-0 loss, there have been many games when he’s had his calm and was not found into an argument with the umpires.

Ultimately, the match between the New York Yankees and the Atlanta Braves was a mixed bag. While it was a winning moment for the players, Aaron Boone’s ejection raises questions about his role.
