The off-season is soon drawing to a close. Almost all players are mostly settled, of course, except the famous Boras two, who still have not found their homes: Alex Bregman and Pete Alonso. But that doesn’t mean the saga of moves is all done for now. Aaron Boone and his future with the New York Yankees is still on the line. The New York Yankees had solidified Boone’s role as a manager for the upcoming season by exercising their one-year club option. Now Boone is here for another year. But the bigger question is—till when?

Will the Yankees be willing to give him a long-term contract extension or not? There were questions about whether Boone would be given an extension even. Forget the WS horror show this season. The 2023 miss in the playoffs still haunts everyone. When asked about Aaron Boone’s future during an interview with Yes Network, owner Hal Steinbrenner gave some clarity. And it seems like Boone will be in the Bronx for more years to come!

Hal Steinbrenner made it clear to YES Network and, of course, through that to Yankee fans—discussions to keep Aaron Boone are on the horizon. However, right now the organization’s primary focus is, of course, the bullpen and strengthening the roster. Steinbrenner did give out information that talks will happen in the coming time.

“I have always thought Aaron Boone was a very good manager, and that’s his reputation in the industry,” Steinbrenner said when asked if it was tough to go for the opt-out option. “We will be talking with him in the days and weeks to come. Obviously, we are trying to hit the priorities right now, which is the roster itself. But there will be conversations about potentially staying longer than that.”

Steinbrenner didn’t give any specifics, but he did indicate that the talks will be in the ongoing season itself. And really, a long-term extension just makes all the more sense for Boone. Sure, the World Series was a mess for them, but the New York Yankees still made it that far in the WS in 15 years!

What’s your perspective on:

Is Aaron Boone the right man to lead the Yankees, or is it time for a change?

Have an interesting take?

Boone guided the Yankees to the postseason in six of his seven seasons. He compiled an impressive 603-429 (.584) regular-season record. So given his track record, it won’t really be surprising to see the Yankees reward Boone with an extension once the offseason priorities are done with. Whether it be free agency or trade acquisitions. Also speaking of Boone, he has his hands full with the prep!

Boone’s plan with the Yankees outfield

The New York Yankees are gearing up for some significant changes in their outfield this season. They just parted ways with Juan Soto, one of their key players this off-season, and let Alex Verdugo walk in free agency. They also traded for former MVP Cody Bellinger from the Chicago Cubs. Plus now Jasson Dominguez, the top prospect, is in the mix. So a whole new outlook for the team’s outfield.

The spring training is just knocking the mound! And manager Aaron Boone gave fans a preview of what they can expect. He spoke on WFAN Tuesday and said that the initial plan is for Cody Bellinger to take over the center field. Dominguez will be over-stationed on the left. This move might raise eyebrows, given that Jasson’s real natural position is center field. Plus he struggled in left during his brief time playing for that spit in 2024.

Boone, although he mentioned that he wants to keep the top prospect in one position as he adjusts himself to the majors. Bellinger, meanwhile, is versatile, so he can play both center and left. Well, if this experiment doesn’t work, they can make the switch midseason too, of course. However, it’s clear—the Yankees value development. It can be a growing pain to see Jasson Dominguez as the left fielder, but they are taking chances.
