Can Aaron Boone's charm keep Juan Soto in pinstripes, or will the Yankees lose their October star?

The World Series run by the New York Yankees was, in all honesty, lackluster. There were doubts that Aaron Boone would continue as the manager. But the team has given another chance to the manager with a year of extension. Now, if Boone wants to prove his mantle, he needs to complete one important task – re-sign Juan Soto. The Dominican is wanted by six or more teams and is the free-agent gem this season – Soto’s impact in his debut year with the Yankees has solidified his star power.

Juan Soto posted career highs after joining the team in a trade for five players with the Padres. He had 41 home runs and ranked in the top three in various offensive categories. Soto was also an October star, sending the Yankees to the first World Series since 2009! He is a Bronx favorite, and undoubtedly Boone wants him. Hence, Boone is off to California to join Hal Steinbrenner to make a case for Soto.

Aaron Boone confirmed on Monday that he will join Hal Steinbrenner for a pivotal talk next week. Their mission is to convince Juan Soto to continue with the Yankees. The delegation is tricky because apparently, even the New York Mets are going to send someone. Talking about his experience with Soto, Boone mentioned, “Watching Juan on the field this season was something special. But more than that, getting to know him personally and managing him made this past season a real pleasure. I’ll be there next week, and I’d absolutely love to keep him in pinstripes.” And for keeping him in pinstripes, Boone has a secret weapon!

The strategy is in his connections, as Boone said, “I’ll be myself and let the meeting take its natural course. My goal is to reinforce just how much we value him, not only as a player but as a person.”  But is connection enough? Soto has more than seven teams interested in him, the most being the Mets, Dodgers, and a dark horse in the mix—the Blue Jays. However, Boone mentioned that although he doesn’t know where things will end up, they will just put their best foot forward and make a strong case.

Scott Braun backs Boone and appreciates his idea

Aaron Boone, in typical New York fashion, has been through a wringer from fans. Sure, he is a former Yankee and knows the Bronx; But things are difficult for him right now. Every season brings up a new critique about Boone, sometimes his way of handling things, and other times, his rash decisions. Yet, MLB analyst Scott Braun is stepping up to back the skipper.

Braun on the New York Sports Nation praised Aaron Boone’s leadership. Not a popular opinion, but Braun couldn’t care less. For him, the fans need to cut Boone some slack, pointing out that even with Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, the lineup was flawed. To make his case, he compared Boone to the Dodgers’s manager, Dave Roberts. “We get the same complaints about Dave Roberts… All of a sudden he wins another World Series for the Dodgers, and we don’t hear that anymore. I think he (Aaron Boone) does a great job.Well, winning does scratch off the past errors!

Scott Braun wasn’t shy to call out the New York Yankees issues, naming them “one of the worst fundamentally sound teams” that he has seen. For Braun, Boone’s return is a no-brainer, and if the clunky roster is changed, he feels the third-gen manager can lead the Yankees into something big and soon. Do you think it’s a possibility?
