Derek Jeter communicated with his mom before every game

Derek Jeter doesn’t seem like the type of player to follow a superstition. Given his hard-working mentality, many would have thought he depended solely on his skill. But according to CBS News, the Yankees’ legendary shortstop would look for his parents in the stand before every game.

Furthermore, Jeter would also have an interaction with his mother. He did not start any of his games without doing this. He had followed this process from his time in the Little League. The Captain Clutch’s mother, Dorothy Jeter, also shared a bit of how her son would communicate.

According to CBS News, Dorothy said, “We communicate. Sometimes, you know, he’ll just stick up his head and go like that,” she said, glancing up. “It means he’s going to try to hit a home run. I shouldn’t give that away, should I?” she added.

This was an adorable gesture by the former Yankees superstar as he hoped to get a glimpse of his loved ones. This was one of the rituals he followed during his career.

Although Jeter once confessed to taking extreme measures to end a nightmare run, there was one other superstition he had. Furthermore, it involved a piece of jewelry that the shortstop would wear daily.

Jeter wore a black necklace all the time

Derek Jeter was not the flashiest of players. Although he made some flair plays on the field, he did not wear many accessories. But during his career, the Yankees legend made it a point to wear a black diamond chain daily.

Although he admitted that this chain was something he wore every day, he did not reveal who gave it to him or why it was necessary.
