Alex Rodriguez affectionately known as A-Rod is a role model for many. Be it his baseball journey, entrepreneurial run, glimpses of fatherhood, or his fitness routine, he is the one to look up to. The New York Yankees’ shortstop has had a pretty topsy-turvy life, but he has been able to turn it around with the support of great women in his life. His daughters, girlfriend, and especially his ex-wife at this particular instance.

Their messy divorce in 2008 set Cynthia Scurtis and Alex Rodriguez on separate paths, however, left them with the commonality of two beautiful daughters. Considering their shared parenting, the former couple went on to develop a great friendship. One that has sprouted into a great motivating factor, thought harshly.

In a recent talk with the E! News, the 3X AL-MVP shed some light on the importance of health and the words behind what led him to take his next step in favor of his health. Considering that he is the father of Ella (15) and Natasha (18), the 48-year-old said that it is his responsibility that he live his best life. For them and with them. One important motivator for him though was his ex-wife Cynthia. Her rather harsh words propelled him to finally take action. Her words were, “Alex, I don’t like what I’m seeing. ‘I’ve known you 30 years, and you’ve never looked worse”, for which he couldn’t thank her enough.

A lover of brutally honest comments, A-Rod took to making changes in his life, some atomic, some drastic. With that began his journey toward fitness; he went on to share more exclusively on E! News. While it has been 2 years since his wife of 6-years made her remark on his form, Alex shared last week, “Two years later, I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life. But I’m also happy and I’ve made some big, big changes in my life”. The mantra that he follows is to always be proactive.

The step this 10X Silver Slugger Award winner took in the direction of his health is a matter of pride for him. On a recent talk show, he spoke to Jennifer, the host of The Jennifer Hudson Show verbalizing how he found his way despite feeling lost. There was a time when A-Rod was an ‘all-work-no-play-Jack’, but he soon changed his routine. His secret is surprising.
