The still-standing record of American League’s most home runs in a career is of the slugger Roger Maris. Two years ago, the legend Maris’ son Roger Maris Jr tweeted for Yankees Aaron Judge to hit 62 homers in the 2021 season. However, it did not happen last year.
But this season, All Rise has already hit 60 homers tying with the Yankees legend Babe Ruth’s record of 60 home runs in a season. As of now, Judge is on the pace to hit three more. And if that happens, with the Yankees clinching the AL East division title, Judge will be taking over the title of AL’s most homers record in a season from the legend Roger Maris. Also, Maris’ son has predicted for Judge to break his father’s record this year.

What did Maris’ son say about Aaron Judge?
Maris Jr asked a million-dollar question on his tweet in 2020, in which he asked if Judge hits 62 homers in 2021, will he be recognized as a single-season home run leader by Major League Baseball?
I posted this tweet below on 8/6/20 and it’s interesting that Judge is chasing down home runs #61 and #62. What if he hits #62 and more. Will he be recognized as the single season home run champ? I say yes … #QUEST FOR 61 pic.twitter.com/VnxrOIbN1K
— Roger Maris Jr (@RogerMarisJr) September 28, 2022
He called it a #questfor61, which did not get completed in 2021 but has much more chances of completion this year. Maris Jr retweeted that old tweet by asking the same question as he did then. He thinks MLB will recognize Aaron Judge as a single-season home run leader.
As of now, Barry Bonds holds the most home runs in a career record with 73 homers. But most people consider that record tainted because of his PEDs usage.
Therefore, fans have mixed reactions to the #questfor61 question asked by Roger Maris Jr. Also, one thing to notice is that both Babe Ruth and Roger Maris made their records while wearing the same Pinstripes as Judge.
What are the fans saying about the question asked by Maris Jr for Judge?
Some of the fans agree with Maris Jr.

I believe he should.

In my mind, yes.

He should. Shouldn’t he. No steroids here. if he stays healthy – Judge has a good ten years. Not many Al Downings here who will pitch to Judge instead of intentional walks.

Love this, what matters most is that Aaron Judge will be recognized and celebrated as the Yankee Home Run King! Thank you for supporting the Yankees and Aaron Judge, it is a great pleasure and affirmation of Judge's and your dad's accomplishments that you are at every game!

While some consider the actual record is of Barry Bonds.
Bonds is the HR champ!
— CanarsieKid (@CanarsieKid2) September 28, 2022
The single season HR king is Barry Bonds. Like it was McGwire, Maris, and Ruth before.

The record is 73 my dude
— Ryan (@BecksBack47) September 28, 2022
nah 73 is the record
— l3agz (@Evan_Bags17) September 28, 2022
No that’s not the record. Bonds is the record holder.
— Old Irish Mac (@angryirishmac) September 28, 2022
Meanwhile, some say that Bonds’ record is tainted.
Bonds cheated! I don’t understand why a cheater is still allowed to be called the leader. He CHEATED, he didn’t win. He didn’t hit those home runs, neither did McGuire. The steroids hit them.
— Mark, My Words! (@LiptonMark) September 28, 2022
Oh definitely! The other steroid boys should be stricken from the records!

Yes. No question 61 is the record. Anything more than that right now is tainted.
