Almost everybody has a dream of wanting to meet their favorite star in their respective fields. But it does not always come true for everyone. But. baseball legend Alex Rodriguez is one of those people whose dream of meeting their favorite star did come true. It was when he met WWE superstar John Cena.

?A decade ago, Rodriguez went to WrestleMania 28 with his then-girlfriend Torrie Wilson. Since dating a former WWE star has its own perks, A-Rod got a first-class ticket to see the WWE superstar John Cena. The former Yankee had his dream come true moment with Cena. But he also got a special message from Cena for none other than the then-New York Yankees star, Derek Jeter. And since Cena is from Massachusetts, appreciating a Bronx bomber would have been a crime because it would have easily irked the Red Sox fans.?

What was the message that John Cena wanted Alex Rodriguez to pass to Derek Jeter?

Nike brand had collaborated with the NBA legend’s Jordan fashion line. And in 2008, the brand signed four-time World Series champion Derek Jeter as one of its ambassadors. Naturally, athletes of different sports wanted to wear the best apparel, and Jeter’s Jordans was one of them.

Therefore, when Cena met Rodriguez before his match at WrestleMania, he wanted A-Rod to let Jeter know that he was wearing his Nike merch for the match.?

Now, since the WWE star is from Massachusetts, and its capital is the home city of the Red Sox, if a person from there would show appreciation to their biggest rival player, the fans definitely would get irked. Notably, the Red Sox and Yankees have the fiercest rivalry in the sport.

When did the Red Sox and Yankees rivalry start?

While the Yankees were mediocre in the first two decades of the twentieth century, the Red Sox won five World Series. The off-field rivalry started in 1919 when MLB legend Babe Ruth got transferred from the Red Sox to the Yankees.?

And it was the start of the ‘Curse of Bambino’ for the Red Sox. It would then stop them from winning a World Series for 86 years. However, the on-field rivalry did not start until 1938.
