The MLB free agency is almost a month away, and the talks regarding the New York Yankees star’s potential landing spot are already making a noise in the baseball world. Currently, a Pinstripes slugger, Aaron Judge, will be a free agent after the end of the 2022 regular season.

When talking about Judge, the potential AL MVP enjoyed a record-breaking season. Having smashed 62 home runs in a season, Judge broke the single-season home run record in the American League. And now, when he is about to become a free agent, almost every top MLB franchise is waiting for the postseason to end and make their move.

Although several top MLB sides will be after Judge during his free agency, the New York Mets and San Francisco Giants are the favorites to sign him after the Yankees.

New York Mets would not start a war with the Yankees for Aaron Judge

It is not a secret that the New York Mets are the absolute favorite to land Aaron Judge in Queens. Considering a rich owner like Steve Cohen who does not hesitate before spending a big chunk, the Mets are leading the race to sign Judge.

“They wouldn’t want to start a war with the Yankees,” a rival source confirmed this to the New York Post.

Notably, back in 2020, Hal Steinbrenner, who owns the Yankees, helped Steve Cohen purchase the New York Mets. And given this situation, Cohen would not want to go against his proponent, if for Aaron Judge.

Do the Yankees intend to re-sign Judge?

Aaron Judge is an excellent player. No doubt about that. But the Yankees slugger has always been more than a player in the ballparks. Be it his leadership or the understanding of the game, no team would want to lose a player as good as Judge to any rival team.

And considering these facts, the Pinstripes might not intend to lose their key player and a proven leader. But all of it depends on Judge and the Yankees, whether they want to continue the partnership or not.
