Brandon Hyde is a manager with a resume that inspires envy and admiration. It seems like he has added another feather to his cap. As per recent reports, the 2016 World Series champion has been named the 2023 American League Manager of the Year. He was announced as the winner today at the annual Baseball Writers’ Association of America awards ceremony.
Start of 2023, no one would’ve expected the Orioles to top AL East and in fact the entire American League. But thanks to Brandon Hyde, they witnessed a brand-new high. This victory is a celebration of his impact on the side, but how much did the Orioles improve under him?

Brandon Hyde, the fourth Orioles manager to receive this accolade, led a team that had suffered 115 losses in the season preceding his arrival to achieve the fourth-highest number of victories in franchise history during his fifth season in charge. The Orioles managed a winning record of 101-61 at 0.623 in the 2023 season.
