Unfortunately, the ongoing WBC has seen its fair share of injuries leaving fans on edge. Edwin Diaz’s gruesome knee injury, sustained while celebrating Puerto Rico’s win over the Dominican Republic, was certainly an unexpected one. Just when it seemed like the worst was behind the athletes, the Houston Astros and Venezuelan slugger Jose Altuve is all set to be out of baseball action for a long time.

With every pitch thrown, there is always a risk of injury. Unfortunately, this fear became a reality for Houston Astros’ Jose Altuve, playing for Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic. As he took a fastball to the hand during a game against the United States.

The impact was so severe that Altuve fell to the ground in agony and had to be assisted off the field by a trainer. The Astros have yet to release an official update on the slugger’s condition, leaving fans in a frenzy. 

In the midst of the tense situation, there are some fans who hope that the misfortune continues on for their rivals. 

 

But there are also those who genuinely care about Altuve’s well-being, and are hoping and praying for the best possible outcome. The latest reports suggest that Altuve might have broken his right thumb, and he might miss baseball for at least two months.

The air was thick with electricity as the exciting game played out on the field. Venezuela had been clinging to a narrow lead of 5-7 after a powerful home run by Luis Arraez. But just as the Venezuelan fans began to sense victory, Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner emerged as the hero of the night, blasting a grand slam in the eighth inning to put the USA in front with a score of 9-7.

Venezuela tried their best to regain the momentum but in the end, their rivals emerged as the winners!
