The Los Angeles Angels have found a replacement for Shohei Ohtani. Experiencing what is likely to be the outcome of the upcoming offseason, the club will have to survive without their star. While it’s not 100% certain where the Japanese Wonder will land, the lack of opportunities in LA has to be frustrating. Now that pitching is out for the season, Ohtani may have had his last days as a DH, too.

A UCL tear on Sept. 2nd spelled doom for the club. One of the best baseball seasons in league history was at an end; Sho-time was done pitching for the season. While hitting hopes still prevailed, a right oblique injury derailed his performance. Having missed eight straight games, many can’t help but wonder what the future holds.

The two-way phenomenon shocked the MLB world in 2017 when he dismissed powerhouses to join the Angels in his American debut. In the almost seven years he’s been in LA, the club has failed to end the season with a winning record, much less make it to the postseason even once. Live views and pictures from games show just how frustrating it is for Shohei Ohtani to lose, especially after he personally keeps winning. Surely, he has had enough.

Surely, the Halos cannot be a possible landing spot for him again next year. They have found a temporary replacement in Mike Moustakas with Sho-time missing at the plate. And this is how hopefully the era of the Angels without their Japanese superstar will look like. Even the front office understands the amount of hostility they receive from baseball fans around the league.

It is widely believed that the Angels ruined the prime years of Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani. Despite their immense talent that has earned them MVP awards, neither has tasted World Series success yet. While Trout is out for the season due to a hand injury, manager Phil Nevin believes Ohtani can still come back. “He feels really close,” said Nevin.

“It just didn’t work out today. But it could be tomorrow. It could be Wednesday. But he feels confident it’s any day now.” His return may technically be close, but is it better to have him rest and fully heal before picking up a bat?

Fans Reiterate Ohtani’s AL MVP-Caliber Season

Many believe that Ohtani doesn’t need to play anymore this year because fans already know what he’s capable of. His performance throughout the regular season has been enough to easily clinch him an AL MVP title for the second time. Most just want him to rest his overworked body now.

One wants the Angels to get that surgery done on his UCL tear.

One believed he already had the MVP locked up.

One fan even referred to the trade offers the Angels refused in hopes of re-signing Ohtani.

Fans from other franchises sympathized with Ohtani and Trout too.

The future is murky but fans believe Ohtani, as well as Trout, should realize where they need to go from here. The writing is on the wall.
