The New York Yankees have always had a plethora of iconic players among their ranks. Most of those enigmatic players achieved legendary status, becoming all-time greats. Moreover, the elite Yankees are among the few franchises that can meet the demands of those titans of the sport. And with their recent Aaron Judge signing, the Yanks have become the first MLB franchise to have a unique record.

The Yankees are easily one of the richest franchises in MLB and global sporting history. So, having multiple players with high salaries on their roster is not a surprising thing for the Pinstripes.
However, after signing a lucrative contract, Judge has joined the likes of Giancarlo Stanton and Gerrit Cole to create a unique yet expansive record for the Yankees. All three of them are heavyweight performers with honorable legacies. Their records thus justify the strength of contracts offered to them by the Yankees organization. But the MLB fans have largely differed on this matter.
The New York Yankees’ humongous contract deals with the dynamic trio, including Aaron Judge
Aaron Judge has now reportedly signed a $360 million contract extension deal for a nine-year period with the Yankees. Judge recently also had talks with the San Diego Padres. In fact, last month, he even appeared all set to join the San Francisco Giants. Thus, in fear of losing out the talismanic Judge, the Yankees decided to pay him the highest average annual salary.
Whereas, Giancarlo Stanton signed a $325 million contract with the Yankees for a 13-year period in 2017. Meanwhile, Gerrit Cole also signed a $324 million contract with the Yankees for a nine-year period in 2019. Cole set an MLB record of $36 million annual salary at that time. However, Judge has now surpassed that amount with his $40 million annual pay.
The Talkin’ Yanks network shared the news on their Twitter account, quoting, “The Yankees are the first team ever with three players on $300+ million contracts.”

The fan reactions that followed:
The Yankees just committed $360MM to be worse than they were last year. 🤣

Not to be “that guy” but this was an awful deal. Judge is overrated because of his name. Barry bonds hit 73 home runs and didn’t get paid that much. Bad contract for a fairly average player besides one good year.

They didn’t sign Stanton and they are still trash just spend a lot of money 😂

Therefore, the contract details have not impressed the fans by any means. Nonetheless, the Yankees will only look ahead to have some glorious seasons ahead with Judge back in the ranks.
What did the Yankees organization have to say about their latest re-signing?
The Yankees general manager Brian Cashman thus spoke on Judge’s contract extension, quoting, “Our organization has tried to stay connect in every way possible and Hal Steinbrenner directly with Aaron Judge as well to make sure that there was gonna be no stone unturned and there was no effort missed in our discussions.”
