Sometimes baseball can be a weird game. And a recent incident proves that nothing is impossible in this game. Cincinnati Reds outfielder Tommy Pham slapped the San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson over a minor beef.
The Reds and Giants are currently playing a three-game series at the Great American Ballpark. The entire incident is still unknown. But reports suggest that Tommy Pham slapped Joc Pederson in a “Will Smith style.”

At first, it is hard to believe that how can someone who is a professional sports player do such an act? But that is exactly what happened during the pregame session on Friday.

Per C. Trent Rosecrans and Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic, Pederson, and Pham had the beef started from a group chat over a fantasy football league. This group includes various MLB players from several teams.
After the incident, players and staff of both teams rushed toward Pham and Pederson shortly after their altercation. Being a veteran player of the game, Tommy Pham was in the lineup to face the Giants. But the Giants asked the Peds to remove him from the game, which the Reds denied.However, when the rain stopped, resulting in a delay in the game for over two hours, the Reds replaced Pham with Alejo Lopez.

While addressing the media before the game, the Giants manager Gabe Kapler said that they are investigating the matter between Tommy Pham and Joc Pederson.

“We’re investigating and learning as much as we can about the incident,” Kapler said. “I don’t have much more for you than that right now. I sense that we’ll have a clearer understanding after the game.”

“Again, still looking into it. Taking it very seriously and learning as much as I and we can as quickly as we can. Not yet prepared to discuss it.”

Talking about the SF Giants, they are probably in the toughest division. Despite playing some good baseball, they are still third in the NL West, whereas the Reds are going through a rough season. They are currently in the last position in their division, NL Central.
