The rollercoaster ride of Ryan Pressly with the Astros has ultimately come to an end. Since he joined the team in 2018 just after their infamous World Series campaign and again took the title home in 2022, Pressly has come a long way in establishing himself as a reliable closer for the Astros. Now as he is set to leave for the Cubs, Pressly shared an emotional note thanking the Astros’ fans for keeping faith in him all these years. The moment, fans are not waiting for, has come and left them teary-eyed. They took to the microblogging site X expressing their emotions and bidding goodbye to their favorite closer.

Well, the Astros’ moving away from Pressly has not gone seamlessly and their GM Dana Brown was candid about how things between the team and Pressly took a different turn after they removed Pressly from a closer position. The credit thus all goes to Ryan Pressly for managing the situation professionally and ensuring a smooth exit from the Astros.

Ryan Pressly is all set to start his next chapter with the Cubs this year. For those unaware, he was demoted from his closer position to accommodate Hader and that was the start of two parties parting away. He was eager though to continue with the Astros and even opted for a no-trade clause when the Tigers got interested but the Cubs offered him the position he loves to play. Yes, Pressly is going to play as a stopper with the Cubs, and to get him for $14 million for one year out of which, the Cubs need to pay only $8.5 million is a steal deal.

Ryan Pressly made a good example here about how the exit process between a team and a player should ideally be! A top-class professional act by him this time. For the Astros, they got Jose Hader in the place, and undoubtedly his 2024 stats of 104 SO are better than that of 58 SO of Pressly. The Astros’ fans can bet on Hader to replicate his last-year performance. Hence, time will be now to answer if Pressly’s gap is felt within the Astros or not.

This breakup came as a mutual benefit for both the Astros and Pressly because the Astros can now proceed as per their lineup and Pressly can continue with his staple position.

While Pressly is all set for a new chapter, the fans are in tears.

The Astros’ fans are still not ready to accept Pressly’s departure and their emotional reactions are proof of that. MLB insider Matt Kawahara recently shared the emotional letter by Pressly to his fans that fueled the emotional burst out of the fans.

Reacting to the above post, one fan remarked about how badly the Astros will be missed and if Brown is confident enough to move without Pressly. Given that the fans have nothing to do here and just hoping that the team got a proper replacement of Pressly. Well, the Astros got Jose Hader in the place of Ryan Pressly.
