The Texas Rangers headed off the World Series with an exciting Game 1 win of 6-5 against the Arizona Diamondbacks today. The Rangers’ spectacular 2023 World Series form with their Corey Seager-Adolis Garcia mashup, along with consistent performers like Marcus Semien, hasn’t given a chance to the D-Backs to turn the game around. Both teams have resilient pitching staffs but a question lingers. Who will have better form in tomorrow’s game?

The Rangers’ Nathan Eovaldi turned heads with his ALDS Game 5 performance. D-Backs’ Zack Gallen dominated the Dodgers in NLCS Game 6. That being said, let’s take a look at the pitcher lineup for Game 2, which is sure to be a spectacle.

With Jordan Montgomery pitching for the Texans opposite the Diamondbacks’ Merrill Kelly, Game 2 is set to keep the fans on the edge of their seats. The Rangers’ pitcher is statistically a little behind the D-Backs player. For the 2023 regular season, Montgomery has a record of 10 wins out of 32 games with a 3.20 ERA and 166 strikeouts. Kelly, meanwhile, has a record of 12 wins out of 32 games with a 3.41 ERA and 187 strikeouts. But what about October?

While the Rangers player has been dominating the postseason, going 3-0 with a 2.16 ERA in four games and three starts, Kelly has gone 2-1 with a 2.65 ERA out of three games and two starts. They have a WHIP of 1.19 and 1.15, respectively. Needless to say, this is going to be an uphill battle for the Titans.

Both teams are fighting to the death. 2023 brought the first American League pennant for the Rangers after their consecutive losses in the World Series in 2010 and 2011. This marks the second National League pennant for the D-Backs, 22 years after their World Series win in 2001. The Texans have set a record for most runs scored with 153 runs in 15 games in a single postseason. Their rival, on the other hand, has set a postseason record for most stolen bases with 36 steals across 12 games.

Mind-boggling, to say the least. Although the Lone Stars won Game 1, the Snakes were better for the most part. They have a strong bullpen this year, with Miguel Castro and Paul Sewald holding the reins. Will Game 2 finally see the D-Backs turn the tables around?
