The legend that is Mike Trout needs no separate introduction for baseball fans. The 14-time All-Star slugger, who has been playing under the Los Angeles Angels banner for 12 years now, is synonymous with the statement of excellence, regardless of his team’s performance as a whole. But his life beyond the boundaries of the diamond is often not spoken about enough. Who does he spend time with the most when he’s not swinging balls across fields at a baffling speed of 184 mph?
As is the case with any popular athlete, Prince Fish spends his time behind the baseball scene, indulging in creating beautiful moments with his wife, Jessica Cox (Trout), and their son. From what has been revealed about the renowned Trout legacy so far, Jessica has an attachment to her husband’s sport that goes deeper than what meets the eye. Before delving into the details of that, shouldn’t Mrs. Trout’s past and her connection to Mike be brought to light?

New Jersey welcomed the future legend’s wife, Jessica Tara Trout (née Cox), on the beautiful fall day of October 5th, 1989. Born to Joseph and Pamela Cox, who are parents to her and two sons, the leading lady of the Trout family, who is American by birth and Christian by religion, completed her high school studies at Millville High, in the same city where she was born, before moving on to pursue majors in Elementary and Special Education in 2009 at Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania. Her college’s website boasts a spectacular bio reflecting her pre-existing love for the sports world.

Jessica has played on her college’s field hockey and softball teams as their captain. An all-conference athlete, she was a member of the National Honor Society, was an Honor Roll alumni, and had appeared for the First-Team All-Commonwealth Conference back in 2011, a year before she finished her graduation. The fact that she clinched these achievements years after meeting Mike speaks of a certain kinship between the sports aficionados.

How long have Mike Trout and Jessica Cox been in a relationship? A timeline of their journey of togetherness
An alumni of Millville High, Mike found himself falling short of words when he first noticed Jessica in a Spanish class, sometime between 2007 and 2009. What he felt on the very first day of the fated meeting can only be described with the expression of finally finding “the one.” Maybe that is the reason why the slugger decided to throw around some shenanigans to catch the attention of their teacher, with a certain intention on his mind, as has been reported by People.com.
A lovestruck Trout was in search of the perfect moment to introduce himself to his future spouse when he noticed an empty seat right behind Jessica. He reportedly acted out in front of the teacher in the hopes of being sent to the backbench so he could be close to her and fire up a conversation. As Cupid would have it, the scenario played out perfectly as Mike found himself being sent to that empty seat, after which the couple took no time to bond over their passion for sports and the outdoors—and the rest was history.
Nine years into the relationship, the pair got engaged over a weekend on June 28th, 2016, after Mike Trout proposed to Jessica with a gesture that can only be termed epic, classic, or phenomenal. The slugger hired a pilot whom he trusted with etching the words “Will you marry me Jess?” in clouded letters across the Cerulean June sky. Needless to say, the cinematic gesture didn’t leave Jessica with any choice but to say yes! She was waiting to call the man her own, after all.
“After a few unforgettable days at home and in Boston with our families, I’m so excited to finally be able to call this amazing man my fiancé!” the lady commented with a picture of the proposal that she posted on her Instagram page.

Jessica and Mike Trout vowed to share their souls along with their surnames on the fateful day of December 9, 2017, in a ceremony that took place in a barn. The lady later reflected on the flurry of emotions she felt that day when she told the Wedding Style magazine, “It felt so natural, like we were doing what we were meant to do. Walking down the aisle with my father and then being given away to my husband was incredibly emotional.” The couple went on to spend their honeymoon in Bora Bora, Hawaii, a short while later.
It is to be noted that the same year in 2009, when Mike was drafted by the Angels in MLB, Jessica found herself attending their high school prom with her future beau. His choice of career never posed a problem for the couple.
Strength behind Mike Trout’s baseball dream: A perfect partner
Mike once reflected in an MLB interview, “She’s been there before baseball and along the whole journey.” Jessica has seldom failed to prove that sentiment throughout their years of togetherness, which was majorly instrumental in paving the way for Mike’s grounded persona.

Starting with working alongside Angels’ players to support the team’s charitable work with their Baseball Foundation and volunteering with their wives at various events, Jessica is the textbook definition of a woman being the force of enthusiasm behind her husband’s careerist dreams. Part of it can be attributed to the preexisting bond she formed with the sport following an unfortunate family incident.
Was her brother also an MLB athlete? A heartwrenching story behind her love for baseball
Belonging to a family of five where she grew up with brothers Aaron and Kyle Cox, Jessica witnessed Aaron going off to play in the MLB for the same team as her husband back in 2015. That part of the story didn’t play out well for the Cox family.
A minor league pitcher with 347 career strikeouts and 5 complete game shutouts to boast of, Aaron saw an unfortunate end to his career a few years into entering the profession. As revealed by The Los Angeles Times, a New Jersey State Police spokesperson reported that Aaron died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The family had a hard time accepting the fact that their 24-year-old son, who was still performing well on his A+ team, had no chance to recuperate from the injury. After being rushed to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center from Driftwood RV Resort & Campground, where the incident took place, Aaron fought for his life for four days before leaving his last breath on August 15, 2018.

To honor his fellow partner in the sport and the brother-in-arm who accompanied him to various family and athletic activities like bowling, golfing, hunting, and fishing, Mike Trout wore Aaron’s name, “A. COX,” on his jersey no. 27 in the first game that he played in after his brother-in-law’s memorial services were over.
The tribute to the heartwrenching incident will forever be etched in the minds of the Angels’ fans who were present at the stadium. Mike’s efforts to remember his brother in every possible way didn’t just end there.
Over the course of the games played in the 2019 season, fans have witnessed “God’s Gift” playing on the diamond, donning a pair of cleats that he customized with Aaron’s initials and a pair of white wristbands that had his full name etched on them. Despite the depth of sadness the Trout family had faced, their latest tribute to Aaron came as a blessing.
Jessica Cox’s life as a philanthropist, teacher, and mother
Jessica and Mike Trout welcomed their son on the 30th of July, 2020. It didn’t take much introspection before the couple decided to name the newborn Beckham Aaron Trout as a forever tribute to the loved one they will miss the most throughout their lives. At present, both Jessica and Mike go above and beyond to ensure that others don’t face the same fate as their brother through various philanthropic endeavors.

“It definitely opened my eyes to how severe and widespread this issue is, and was a learning experience for us,” Jessica described in an email in 2020 to reveal why the Trout family became benefactors to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The mother of one works as an elementary teacher for sixth graders in Cape May Court House, in New Jersey, for the Dennis Township Primary School.

In her free time, she takes part in charity drives for organizations like Fill the Boots, Golden Ball, and Big Sisters and Big Brothers of Orange County. The Trout family’s philanthropic endeavors are mainly focused on working for or donating money to charitable trusts that support orphans, young patients, people who suffer from muscular dystrophy, and various other local causes. Just a few years ago, the couple made a trip to Belize to work with the kids who needed support there. That was shortly followed by a $27,000 donation to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund in 2017.
From the looks of it, the family that Jessica and Mike Trout are building together is well on its way to leaving a legacy behind that will serve as the benchmark of relationships and magnanimity for generations of fans to come. May God bless them and their efforts to make this world a better place forever and the day after!
