Aaron Judge has recently signed a 9-year $360 million contract with the New York Yankees. The new contract will probably ensure that he is a Yankee for the rest of his career. The 30-year-old star was recently given a special position within the organization, one that is given to very few.

For those unaware, Judge has been named the next Yankee’s captain, a move that had been rumored for weeks. Furthermore, who better than the ultimate Derek Jeter, the legendary Yankees captain, to bless Judge with the new responsibility? When the news came out, the Yankees fans could not control but heap praise on Jeter and Judge.

Following signing a massive $360 million deal and joining a very exclusive list of players. The New York Yankees named Aaron Judge their next captain. Furthermore, the Pinstripes legend Derek Jeter, a former Yankees captain, was on hand at the presentation and even congratulated Judge in a tweet.

In the Tweet, Jeter said “Congrats @TheJudge44!!! Well deserved honor.” In what was a passing of the torch from one captain to the next.

Jeter seems to be satisfied with Judge being named captain in an interview with YES Network. Fans have shown largely positive reactions to the appointment of Judge to the position as well. Most fans are happy that Jeter was there to pass the torch on to the next Yankees’ captain.

Judge will have some big shoes to fill, but the Yankees outfielder has proven himself in the last few years. He played his best baseball in 2022, a season that proved to be historic for him.

Judge earned the 2022 AL MVP in what was a historic season

Following a stellar 2022 season, Aaron Judge received the AL MVP award. While doing so, he became the first Yankee to win the award since 2007. During the season, Judge also broke the AL record for single-season home runs by hitting 62 of them. He broke the previous record of 61 set by Roger Maris in 1961.

Furthermore, Judge also received the Silver Slugger award. 2022 was the biggest year of Judge’s career so far, but the 2023 season will be the next chapter.
