The 2023 season isn’t one that the New York Yankees will want to remember for a long time. But despite their dismal performances, the Yankees are still close to being leaders in this shocking statistic.
The Yankees’ lineup and mound rotation seem to be operating in alternating patterns of brilliance this season. While the first half saw a misfiring offense, the second half saw the bullpen exposed by other teams’ lineups. Even though the Aaron Boone-led team has been putting in disappointing performances game after game, their loyal fans still seem to be delivering.

With the Bronx Bombers operating as the ‘winningest‘ team in Major League Baseball with 27 pennants to their name, there can be few detractors about the star-studded team.
Even while their 2023 season has not been their greatest, their performances don’t seem to be changing too much about the attendance in Yankee Stadium. The fans appear to be saving the sport with their large turnout.
Journalist Bryan Hoch tweeted a shocking statistic that the team was actually leading the American League in average home attendance. With almost 41,581 fans turning up to Yankee Stadium every home game, no other team in the American League was enjoying more support from its fans. In fact, even in the MLB at large, only the Dodgers were registering a higher home attendance.

As a consequence, the owner of the New York franchise, Hal Steinbrenner, appears to be filling his coffers at a rate he might not have expected despite performances on the diamond not quite matching up.
