It had not been the best of the past few years for the Boston Red Sox. The 2018 champions have struggled to do well. They had two last-place finishes in the last few years and are on the way to another with a 2023 horrendous season. Notably, the problem started after Chaim Bloom joined the franchise in 2019. Though his actions aligned with the team’s demands, Bloom was under a lot of pressure for consecutive failures.

Interestingly, Bloom was behind the change in the organization that would benefit them in the future. It includes the setting up of a better farm system. But it was not enough for him to maintain his job. The Sox sacked Bloom after he failed to sync with the mentality of four titles in the last 15 years.

Although the move was surprising for many, it showed the seriousness of the management towards the club and its success. Given that the Yankees have had a worse case, they have been without a trophy since 2009, the move also brought a question: Will New York follow their rival’s footsteps to make a change after almost ending another season without a title? Experts believe otherwise.

Brian Cashman Is Unlikely to Face a Sacking Even if the Yankees Finish Last

In MLB history, the Yankees are a team with maximum success. Hence, everyone looks up to them and judges their season with more scrutiny. But it also brings pressure, which has been the case this season, which has been a failure. To find the reasons, the ownership announced a third-party audit of the entire organization.

Darius Glover, who covers the Pinstripes, shared this update. It means Hal Steinbrenner, who has been accused of not doing enough, is looking to amend his stand, which could include multiple firings, including GM Brian Cashman. However, according to David Rifkin, it is unlikely to happen.

The reason is that the Yankees would approach the findings and their baseline method. Because of this, they would account for other factors including injuries, staff tenure, when analyzing the audit. They will compare it on a baseline set for the season and if they find a major deviation from this, then they would fire Cashman.
